Netlog Chooses Message Systems’ Momentumâ„¢ Platform

Leading European Community Fuels Continued Success for Message Systems in Europe

November 1, 2010

COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, UNITED STATES - Message Systems, the premier provider of fast, flexible and holistic message management solutions, announced today that social community Netlog has chosen to implement its Momentumâ„¢ platform to manage millions of email messages sent daily to its youth-focused audience.

Based in Belgium, Netlog is an online community specifically targeted at the European youth and is available in 37 languages. There are more than 71 million Netlog members throughout Europe and the Middle-East, and the company currently manages 15-30 million email messages per day. This enormous volume of email traffic has come with associated problems regarding deliverability, particularly since many of Netlog’s members frequently change email addresses, causing legitimate messages to be perceived as spam. In order to prevent this, Netlog has opted to implement Message Systems’ Momentum platform, which tracks undeliverable email and automatically prompts users to update their email address upon login.

“Today, internet users have many different online service to choose from, so it is critical for Netlog to communicate smoothly with its members in order to ensure their satisfaction and loyalty,” says Toon Coppens, CTO of Netlog. “Our previous system was based on a reactive model and required a lot of manual management. With Momentum, we have a wholly integrated email message management solution that helps us maximize efficiency while minimizing our percentage of failed email messages.”

Momentum will be fully integrated into Netlog’s infrastructure to serve as the central integration and processing hub for Netlog’s digital email messaging. The high-performance Momentum platform will function as a gateway and intelligence router for handling messages according to Netlog’s preferences. In addition to reducing the fail rate of email messages, an immediate benefit of employing Momentum has been a significant decrease in CPU usage. “Our CPU usage rate dropped by a surprisingly high ratio of about 20 to 1,” notes Coppens.

While Momentum has long been used by leading social networks in the U.S. to provide message traffic management, Netlog is the first social community based in Europe to purchase the platform.

“Netlog was experiencing typical delivery issues in getting the right message was getting to the right person via the right device,” says David Harvey, vice president of business development and partners at Message Systems. “Even a one-percent fail rate for a base of over 70 million members is a significant potential loss of revenue opportunity. Momentum is a solution designed to reduce failed deliveries, thereby increasing the opportunity for growth.”

Message Systems is the premier provider of fast, flexible and holistic message management solutions that allow companies to deliver the right message at the right time, in the right place. For more information, please visit www.messagesystems.com.
