Senior Project Manager

Message Systems is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager. The Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams to ensure product releases are delivered on time and within budget. The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning of project activities, development of the project plan and reporting of progress. The Project Manager will work with and coordinate the activities of personnel across a number of cross-functional teams.

This is a hands-on position in a technical environment and requires a strong, creative leader with SDLC and product development experience. The candidate must be a self-starter and experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously at the enterprise level utilizing a shared technical resource pool.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead, inspire, and manage project teams.
• Determine appropriate structure and methodology for project under Message Systems’ Product Development Process guidelines.
• Manage project scope, execute the change management process, and ensure successful project completion.
• Build and maintain the project schedule, budget, risk register, resource plan and other key project artifacts.
• Participate in the development of Business Requirements, Statements of Work (SOW) or Proposals in conjunction with product and engineering management.
• Work with the technical analyst to develop clear and concise technical documentation including Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTM) Style Guides, Use Cases, Conceptual Modeling, etc.
• Coordinate Level of Efforts (LOE) and project estimates using appropriate techniques to estimate project tasks.
• Ensure project stage gate reviews are organized and executed appropriately.
• Ensure timely project communications including weekly status reports (internal and customer-facing where appropriate) and dashboards.
• Champion and contribute to Message Systems’ Product Development Process and ensure compliance throughout project lifecycle.
• Perform post project reviews to capture lessons learned, close out project documentation, assess estimate accuracy, change rates, defect metrics, etc.

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor Degree
• PMP Certification, preferred
• 5 years recent project management experience with at least 3 years in a software development environment.
• Strong and polished written skills and verbal communications, including executive level briefings.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving and reasoning skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with moderate to high change rates.
• Experience in IEEE, CMMi, and multiple SDLC models (Agile, Iterative, Waterfall, etc).
• Expertise with project management tools such as Microsoft Project and PMI PMBOK.
• Travel 05%-25% depending on specific projects.
